The genesis of the K.V. - Kendriyta Vidyalaya No.2, Belgaum Cantt. was started on the 18 of september 1983 under the able administration of Honourable Assistant Commissioner Shri Srikanthayya and our Education Officer Shri Hashmi.

Important Milestones - This pioneer institute, at its infant stage, was in the tender care of Principal Mr. D. B. Deshpande and the Chairman was Commandant Bhajentra Singh. The Vidyalaya began functioning in the Maratha Light Infantary Building.

Gradual Year Wise Expansion in classes - The Vidyalaya had humble beginnings with a student strength of below 250 students and staff strength of just 16 in the year 1983. The Vidyalaya is now one of the biggest Vidyalayas (in terms of strength) in the Bangalore region with a student strength of around 3000 and staff strength of one hundred.

Details of Campus - The Vidyalaya is well equipped with all kinds of infrastructural facilities required to meet the needs and necessities of the inspired learners. Vidyalaya has separate building for the Primary section. All the class rooms are spacious, well lighted and have good ventilation. The furniture in the classrooms have made according to the age and physical growth of children. Classes from I and II have six sections and III to X are divided into five sections each. The XI and XII classes have Science and Commerce streams making a total of 60 classrooms. The class rooms have been made attractive by maps, sketches, charts display boards, inspiring quotes etc. The classrooms for the younger children have been made appealing for the toddlers by educative drawings and colourful pictures which cover the entire walls of the classroom. A Herbal Garden with a wide variety of medicinal plants is an additional attraction to the natural bounty around the Vidyalaya.

Facilities available including games and sports facilities -

Blessed with natures bounty the Vidyalaya resides in a lush green environment and enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. The Vidyalaya has well developed infrastructural facilities which are required to light the lamp of enlightenment in the learners.

To develop the skill of learners, both the secondary and senior secondary sections are equipped with separate science labs. There is also a junior science lab specially designed to meet the needs of the learners of classes VI to VIII. The classes IX to XII also have exclusive and well facilitated labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and Information Practices.

In order to meet the rising standards of education and to make our students fully equipped to face the challenges of the modern competitive arena the School has been provided with four computer labs with a total of 110 computers. All the computers are provided with broadband connection so that the students and the staff can browse the internet and collect information from around the globe.

The school is also keen on giving vocational guidance to its learners. The School houses an SUPW laboratory equipped with sewing machines showcasing the vocational skills, facilitating studies regarding Electrical Appliances, Needlework and Jewelry designing. There are also rooms for miscellaneous activities. The Yoga Hall, Pottery room, Dance and Music Room, Art and Drawing Room and the Maths Lab are intended to satisfy the varied interests of the child.

As the saying goes reading brings perfection to an individual’s life. In order to inculcate good reading habits there is a big Library with a variety of reference books, books on different subjects, classic tales and a hoard of story books.

For the all round development of the child the Vidyalaya has a spacious playground, Volley ball court, Badminton court, Kho – Kho ground and tracks to develop atheletic skills. The Sports Room is well equipped with Indoor games like Carrom, Chess and Table Tennis. The School also has a beautiful park with swings, merry-go-rounds and see-saws for the Primary children. There is also a park for adventurous activities. The materials in the park has been developed taking in account the adventurous nature in children.

The lush green gardens around the Vidyalaya adds charm and grace to the beauty of the institution. A Herbal garden with a wide variety of medicinal plants is an additional attraction to the natural bounty around the Vidyalaya.

Ornamental wall paintings, colourful decorative plants, beautiful aquariums, fragment rose gardens, well – maintained display boards and notice boards, artistic exhibits, attractive paintings and inspiring quotes on the wall enhances the appeal of the School building.

Since its installation the Vidyalaya has maintained high academic standard in the home examinations as well as the board examinations conducted by C.B.S.E. for classes X and XII.
In addendum to myriads of activities conducted in the Vidyalaya ample opportunities are provided for the students to excel in the field of sports and games and other co-curricular activities, where in students participate in various activities conducted locally, Inter-Kendriya Vidyalaya level and also District, State and National level

• Activities like Mathematics Olympiad, Green Olympiad, Essay Writing, Painting, Adventure, Sports, Exhibitions, School Picnic, and Educational Tours etc.
• A well organized Scout and Guide team whole heartedly pursuing the motto ‘BE PREPARED’ under the able guidance of Scouts and Guides instructors.

• Our children are imparted the skills of Pottery making, Carpentry, Jwellery designing and makin; Needle work, Drawing, Dance and Music and also special coaching in various Sports and Games.

• Computer education is imparted by qualified teachers for students of classes III – XII. We are proud to have 4 well equipped computer laboratories with a total of 99 computers.
• Solace for the readers – The Vidyalaya’s library has approximately 9,271 books to cater to the needs of the students and teachers. The Vidyalaya subscribes magazines, periodicals in English, Hindi and Sanskrit. The library provides right ambiance to inculcate the reading habit in Children.
• A whole new world is left open before the students with a scientific bent of mind for exploring and drawing out conclusions and nurturing their scientific expertise in the well equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biology labs. In addition we also have a Maths lab for the Number Wizards.
• To keep our children mentally alert and physically strong the Vidyalaya has a spacious play ground with tracks to develop athletic skills. There is also a Basket ball, Volley ball and Badminton court; Kho – kho and Kabaddi ground; an adventure corner equipped for activities like Rope climbing, Burma Bridge, Slithering and Monkey crawling to cater to the students having a taste for adventurous sports. A well equipped Sports room with provisions to play indoor games like Carrom, table Tennis etc.The tiny tots are also provided with Swings, slides, See-Saw, Merry go round etc.
